The Project
Increased global demand for good quality and competitively priced thermal coal for power generation, and metallurgical coal for steel production, is driving Australia's highly successfull coal export market.
The Wiggins Island Coal Export Terminal (WICET) will assist coal companies to meet this demand.
Once fully commissioned, the multi-billion dollar industry-owned and privately funded Terminal will provide over 80 million tonnes per annum in export coal capacity, effectively doubling existing coal export capacity at the Port of Gladstone.
The new Terminal will be built in stages to match forecast coal export demand. Stage One will deliver 27 million tonnes per year of export capacity.
