Location
The Wiggins Island Coal Export Terminal (WICET) is located at Golding Point, to the west of the existing RG Tanna and Barney Point Terminals, and will form part of the existing Port of Gladstone.
The Gladstone region has two of the world’s largest alumina refineries, Queensland’s largest multi-commodity port and a number of other major industrial giants sited in the region.
This strong industrial foundation is balanced with large areas of green open space and a strong sense of community that epitomises the Gladstone region.
With the expansion of the Surat Basin, and growth of mining in central Queensland, additional Gladstone export capacity is needed to meet coal demand worldwide. WICET has been designed and engineered with the future of Queensland coal mining at its core.
